Description
Similar to our standard pricking wheel, this set has a reservoir at the end of the handle containing three additional wheels (total of four). The sizes are 7, 9, 10 and 12 tpi. Pricking Wheels are used to mark stitches along a curved line. A great compliment to pricking irons which produce straight lines. Pricking wheels can be used instead of the 2 teeth iron, especially where there is a very long curve. These are not like the normal overstitch wheels that you often see. Each tooth creates a diagonal line instead of a point and are very sharp.
Pricking wheels are usually used to just make impressions for stitches but will create marks that go all the way through on softer and thinner leather. These particular pricking wheels have a longer handle which allows you to lean into the tool with your shoulder, helping to create deeper impressions in the leather. The wheels are also removable so you can swap out new or different sized wheels to suite your needs.
We chose to initially offer nine teeth per inch (TPI) pricking irons since they are what is traditionally used in higher end leather goods. 9 TPI will give your work a more refined look along with strong and sturdy seams.
Each pricking wheel is hand made in Northern France with a 190 year old company. The teeth on each wheel are individually sharpened creating a very effective tool.
