Today’s post is a video from the workshop of John Lobb, a heritage, bespoke, leather shoe-making company from London that has been serving clients such as the the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales since the mid-19th century.
What really strikes me about this quiet, intimate look at their family-run business is how humble and pliable the artisans are, and how their attitude about the craft has clearly been shaped and molded by the incredible patience and dedication that it takes to do the work that they’re doing on a daily basis.
In addition to that, the video clearly demonstrates the value of leather goods made in the traditional way, with a level of custom detail and personal attention that is missing in large-scale factory operations.
