We are busily preparing for the in-person courses Refining Your Technique and the Zippered Wallet next week. Part of that preparation is making more tools. I started making tools a while back using my leatherworking experience and desire for what I would ideally want in a tool.
For example, these sewing awls have a grip optimized for how you would hold a sewing awl. I also offer to customize the stick-out when you get one; that is how far the blade extends from the ferrule. Some leatherworkers need a longer blade to sew through thicker materials, while some prefer a shorter blade for faster sewing. You can see the handles pictured here waiting to have their blades set.
